Photo Page Update

Cleveland Hamfest and new Antenna Farm Pages added

Hello IOOK!

We have two more updates to the Photo Page. The first is from the Cleveland Hamfest that N8DRM and WA8ZWJ attended last weekend. The second is a new page that will be a continuing work in progress called "Antenna Farms". I recently noticed that I had a pretty good collection of antenna farm snap shots and thought the IOOK might be interested in seeing what kinds of antenna farms the IOOK'ers have.

Check these out when you get a chance at www.iook.org!

IOOK'er Makes the Ohio Section ARRL News

Rick, KK8O featured as speaker and presenter at 2005 Ohio Section Conference 9/18/05

The following was edited from the report by Joe Phillips, K8QOE, Ohio Section Manager

Ohio Section Manager

The annual Ohio Section Conference, at the Ohio EMA headquarters in
Columbus, had a full house - 90 attended and participated. Ohio Section
Manager, Joe Phillips, K8QOE, opened with a brief period of silence for the
victims of Katrina and recognition of the work of amateur radio operators
to date.

Ohio Official Observer Coordinator Rick Swain, KK8O, made two award
presentations "for Meritorious Service" and updated everyone on the status
of the OO program in Ohio. Then he gave a digital mode demonstration by
playing the sounds of various digital modes and challenged the audience to
identify the signal.

OFFICIAL OBSERVERS
Rick Swain, KK8O, the OOC, presented two "Meritorious Service" awards, to
Ernie Howard, W8EH. of Middletown and to Mike Nelson, W8MMN, Columbiana
County, for their work in investigations which led to actions by the
Federal Communications Commission.

Rick then spoke on the effect his O.O.'s had on working with amateur band
interference - HF and local repeaters - in the state. He cited two
different instances in the state just this year that our O.O.'s have had a
very positive effect on keeping the bands clean. Rick also did a very good
presentation on the various digital modes that can be heard on the bands
today. He had recorded a number of them and played them back for all
present to guess what mode was being played.

Photo Page Updates

Some Old, Some New

Hello IOOK!

It seems I have been a bit delinquent in notifying you about at least one update to the Photo Page (www.iook.org)

Last month I added W8TVC's "RF To Go" shack to the "Shacks Now" page but neglected to mention it. :-( While you are there, check out W8AK's shack as well. :-)

I have also included shots from this past weekend's Findlay hamfest. A great time was had by all! Check out "Findlay HF 05".

I hope all is well with you. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those influenced by Katrina's rath!
